Finding Byosen
“Byosen” is a Japanese word that means “illness line” or “sick line”.
Byosen is negative energy and/or stagnant energy that occurs at the energetic root of an illness/health issue. The method to look for Byosen with the practitioner’s Reiki hands is called Byosen Reikan Ho (the energy scanning method).
With the original Japanese Usui Reiki, a practitioner begins with looking for the root cause of the illness using Byosen Reikan Ho.
Byosen Reikan Ho helps the practitioner to tap into an information field of the client, and Byosen energy may help the practitioner finding the location of the root cause, the current condition, how long it will take to heal, and how long the practitioner should place the hands on the location(s).
How to practice Byosen Reikan
The practitioner scans the whole body placing or hovering both hands to find Byosen.
Byosen is not to be confused with psychic ability or intuition. The Japanese approach is not exclusively intuitive. It is based on perception.
Perception increases as you increase your awareness. Be aware of all the information that your senses provide for you. Look at the body of your client with the utmost attention and awareness. Notice every little thing.
Hibiki
When the practitioner feels some sort of sensation, it is called Hibiki, this shows where the practitioner should place their hands.
Being able to sense Byosen (Hibiki) is the very basis of traditional Reiki Ryoho.
Hibiki occurs at the spot of the cause of the disease, not at the symptom area. For instance, in the case of a headache “hibiki” occurs on the head if the cause lies in the brain, but there will be no “hibiki” on the head if the cause lies in an internal organ.
The type of Hibiki sensation varies; it can be cold, warm or hot, numb, sore, etc. It depends on the practitioner.
Symptoms and Byosen
When one becomes sick, there is always Byosen, even before any symptom appears. When there is Byosen, there also is a Hibiki sensation. Reiki can detect and treat the illness before it manifests.
After one recovers from the illness, Byosen can still remain. Removing it with Reiki will prevent a relapse.
When the practitioner feels Hibiki sensations on multiple areas, or when he/she thinks it is necessary, Reiji Ho can be performed.
Reiji Ho shows the practitioner where Byosen is by gently guiding his/her hands. It is a very effective method and the original Japanese Usui Reiki practitioners express it as “my hands are guided.”
The root cause of the illness is where your hands are led.
At some point, the Hibiki sensations weaken and disappear. This signifies Byosen’s removal: however, it may be just temporary.
Some deep illnesses may still remain there and come back later, and in such a case, the practitioner should repeat the session until the Hibiki sensations completely disappear.
The Reiki session in original Japanese Usui Reiki is to:
- (1) find Byosen, the negative energy coming from the root cause of an illness
- (2) place your hands as long as you feel Hibiki, the sensation from the negative energy on your palms
- (3) wait until the sensation disappears. (Review the Introduction manual for more details.)
