This course for beginners will open you to the flow of Reiki, enabling you to use Reiki for self-healing and for friends and family. It is a combination of talks, discussion, and experience. It has been designed to empower you through personal growth, self-development, and reflection. You learn the basic theories and healing techniques. You can use Reiki that very same day.
Reiki was originally established as “Usui Reiki Ryoho” (meaning “Usui Reiki Healing Method”) by Mikao Usui in 1922 as “the way to make mind and body healthy on the basis of the Universal Reiki“. This tradition evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system and benefits may include deep relaxation and the promotion of a calm peaceful sense of well-being. Usui Reiki Ryoho has spread worldwide as a complementary therapy for modern medicine. More people are using Reiki to make their lives happier and healthier.
Gendai Reiki Ho is not a new Reiki system. It can be referred to as “original Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho in the Gendai Reiki style,” as it allows people in modern society to learn and practice the original Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho easily and comfortably.
Hiroshi Doi, Sensei (Founder of Gendai Reiki Ho and member of Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai) developed Gendai Reiki Ho to honor Usui Sensei’s wishes that Usui Reiki be shared with the World. Gendai Reiki is taught in four levels, Shoden, Okuden, Shinpiden and Gokuikaiden.
Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, meaning “Usui Reiki Healing Method Learning Society”, is the name of the society of Reiki Masters founded by Mikao Usui. Though many of their teachings still remain secret, Sensei Hiroshi Doi, a member of the Gakkai shares Usui Reiki knowledge with the rest of the world through Gendai Reiki Ho.
In this in-person course, you will learn about:
- – How Reiki originated and evolved over the past one hundred years.
- – What energy is and how to feel the flow of Reiki.
- – Sensing your own energy and the energy of other people.
- – Have an understanding of how energy works and acquiring healing abilities.
- – The Japanese Reiki techniques.
- – How to charge energy.
- – How to cleanse cut off negative energy and cleanse your aura.
- – Hand positions to give yourself Reiki treatments.
- – Use the 12 basic hand positions to treat others.
- – The importance of Self-healing, Self-purifying and Self-Growth.
- – Reiki as a spiritual practice.
You will receive an authentic and individual Reiki Level 1 attunement which will allow you to be opened and aligned to the Reiki energy and enable you to channel Reiki for life.

The official Gendai Reiki Ho Shoden Level I manual translated into English.
An internationally recognised Gendai Reiki Ho Shoden Level I certificate.

International Accreditation
This Gendai Reiki Level I Shoden training has been verified and approved against the current recommended training standards for Professional Reiki Training as specified by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council. All assessments and verifications have been conducted by qualified Assessors and Verifiers of the UK Reiki Federation.

Other lineages
For most Japanese Gendai Reiki Masters in Japan, changing the Master is a big deal. A person who has learned Reiki from another lineage, even if that person is already a Master, must start with Level I Shoden if they want to learn Gendai Reiki. Gendai Reiki adheres to the philosophy and pure energy line of Usui Sensei. If students are taught from the middle level, they will lack the energy transmission and theories of the levels that were not taught.
About Giancarlo Serra
Giancarlo is a Gokuikaiden (Reiki Master) of the Japanese Lineage, as well as a Reiki Master of Western Lineages of Reiki. He trained with Hiroshi Doi in Osaka, Japan. This is Giancarlo’s Gendai Reiki lineage:
