What Is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that everybody experiences something like on an everyday basis. Just before we go to sleep at nights (when we are half awake and half asleep) and just before waking up in the morning are hypnotic states.
If you have ever been so absorbed when you are reading a book that you don’t hear someone calling your name or lose track of time, or if you daydream then these are all similar states to hypnosis.
Most people’s experience of hypnosis is a state of focused relaxation that they tend to enjoy.
Can Anyone Be Hypnotised?
In theory, yes. However, you do need to be open to the process, as people cannot be hypnotised if they don’t want to be.
What Sort of Suggestions Do You Make?
You and I agree together on the goal that you are working towards, and I use positive suggestions that help you to achieve your goal.
What Sort of Things Can I Use Hypnotherapy For?
There are all sorts of possibilities. Our unconscious mind is where we store our patterns and behaviours that we have learned, so we can use hypnotherapy to change old patterns and behaviours that are no longer need. Some examples are:Stopping smoking
– Eating patterns
– Phobias and fears
– Confidence & Self-esteem
– Improving memory and concentration
– Anxiety / stress
– Insomnia & sleep problems
– Weight management
– Public speaking
– Exams, tests and interviews
– Sports performance improvement
– Panic attacks
– Stress management
– Habits such as nail biting
What Happens When I Come to See You for a Hypnotherapy Session
Prior to coming for your hypnotherapy session, you will have been asked to complete an intake form about you, and the reason why you are coming for hypnotherapy.
We start off the session by talking about the questionnaire and doing an interview so that I can understand your situation more, and what you are looking to achieve from hypnotherapy.
What Happens Next?
After the interview is complete then I guide you into a state of focused relaxation, using relaxation suggestions and using other hypnotic techniques
During this hypnotic state of focused relaxation, I can speak more easily to your unconscious mind, which is more responsive to positive suggestions in a relaxed state.
How Long Does a Session Last?
A first session will usually last 1.5-2 hours as we conduct an initial consultation in the opening session and do hypnotherapy.
Subsequent sessions are about 1 hour unless you are working with me for regression (usually 2 hours).
Does Hypnotherapy Actually Work?
Yes, hypnotherapy is becoming increasingly recognised in the medical world and all walks of life where it assists people to make the changes they want to make in their lives. However, it is not a magic wand approach, and it still requires work and commitment on your part.
How many sessions will I need?
For stopping smoking one 2/2.5-hour session is usually all that is needed.
For other issues, we usually work over a series of sessions. More simple issues can be helped in 3 sessions, while more complex issues might take more sessions.
We can discuss this in the initial consultation that you have.
