So … did you find the reason why you are here reading about this article? Well, if you are still interested in this article, perhaps I can tell you a little more about Reiki.

Firstly, a Reiki Level 1 course is for beginners. So, if you have never heard of Reiki, or you heard about it, but you are not sure what is about, or you trained in other energy approaches and you’d like to integrate Reiki in what you do already, this information may help you.

Shoden is the Japanese name for what in the West we call Reiki Level 1. Gendai Reiki Ho is a system that was founded by Hiroshi Doi and is a combination of traditional Japanese Reiki and Western Reiki. You can read more about Gendai Reiki below.

Learning Reiki is not like going to school. It is not something that you memorise or learn as we intend it to be, in a traditional way. Reiki is experiential. Therefore, it is essential that you attend a Reiki course that offers you the opportunity to practice as much as possible. I would say that a good balance is 80% of the time is spent in practicing Reiki, and a 20% of the time is spent in learning/teaching.

What you will learn in Reiki Level:

-The history of Reiki, because it will make more sense to you if you hear where Reiki is coming from and its philosophy.

-Mikao Usui: although Usui Sensei did not ‘invent’ Reiki, he made a huge contribution to the way we learn and practice Reiki today. Gendai Reiki Ho is a system that is very close to the original Japanese teachings of Mikao Usui.

-Reiki is very simple, it does not require deep meditation, nor does it require to ‘be special’ or to have specific skills. Reiki is open to all, because it is not an ability, everybody can use Reiki for themselves and to help other people. This is something important to learn at level 1, as sometimes students have a belief (that we inherit from society, religion, family etc.) that there is something special we need to have in order to practice Reiki.

-You will learn some basic hand positions to use on yourself when you channel Reiki.

-You will also learn hand positions to use when you are channeling Reiki for other people and animals.

But… where is the spirituality in all of this?

Reiki is a spiritual practice, this is how Mikao Usui intended Reiki to be. However, the focus of level 1 is to engage with the energy, to experience it in every way possible. In level 2 you continue to experience the energy and integrate the symbols in your practice. If and when you decide to move to Reiki Level 3, Reiki starts to present itself to you as an intelligent and spiritual energy which supports you in your expansion as a Divine Being living an experience on Earth, as well as being a healing energy that you can use by applying different techniques and approaches.

At Reiki Master level you let go of everything you learned, symbols included, to make room for the power of the Reiki energy so that it can fill your system and guide you.

Once you are empty, you will then become one with Reiki.

Gendai Reiki Ho

The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century. Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, meaning “Usui Reiki Healing Method Learning Society”, is the name of the society of Reiki Masters founded by Mikao Usui.

Gendai Reiki Ho is not a new Reiki system. It can be referred to as “original Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho in the Gendai Reiki style,” as it allows people in modern society to learn and practice the original Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho easily and comfortably.

Certification levels of Gendai Reiki Ho:

Level I – Shoden (Reiki 1)

Level II – Okuden (Reiki 2)

Level III – Shinpiden (Reiki 3)

Level IV – Gokuikaiden (Master)

This seminar for beginners will open the Reiki pathway, by receiving energy transmissions (commonly called attunements) that are performed three times. These energies transmissions will open the channel enabling you to connect to Reiki whenever you need it. In this seminar, you learn the basic theories and healing techniques. You can use Reiki that very same day.

Gendai Reiki Ho Shoden seminars are offered in person only.

Reiki-ho (“Reiki” In English) is a traditional Japanese way of using Ki for hands-on healing of the body and mind, the same way as other hand healings that have existed from ancient times. It was originally established as “Usui Reiki Ryoho” by Mikao Usui (1865 – 1926) in 1922 as “the way to make mind and body healthy on the basis of the Universal Reiki“.

Usui Sensei’s teaching was that the purpose of life is to achieve a peaceful mind state and then while holding that peace within, fulfill our destined missions. Usui said “Everything that exists in the Universe possesses Reiki“.

The Universal energy exists in everything; it is the life energy inside the human body that gives us natural healing ability and the power to live in health and wholeness. The life energy is known by a variety of names such as aura, Ki, vitality, Reiki, Reishi, life magnetism, prana, Chi, body radioactivity and so on.

Usui Reiki Ryoho creates happiness, relaxation and healing. It allows anyone to live life fully by harnessing the energy from the Universe. Reiki-ho differs, however, from other similar healing methods in the respect that a difficult training period is not necessary and anyone can perform the healing easily just by following the system.
