The Time For The Lonely Wolf Is Over
The Time Of The Lone Wolf Is Over

At this point most people understand that we are in a period of transition. I feel that we are simultaneously experiencing the falling away of what no longer serves us and the birth of what will. Barbara Marx Hubbard was described by Buckminster Fuller, Jonas Salk and others as the world’s leading futurist. From my perspective and that of many other seekers, the shift in human consciousness Barbara began thinking and speaking about beginning in the immediate aftermath of WWII and the message around this that she continued crafting and evolving until she passed in April 2019, is unfolding now.

Barbara identified moments in the history of life on Earth where life reached a choice point. There could be either an evolutionary leap or an extinction. When I studied with her in the 1990s she shared that she experienced humanity as entering such a period of time.

The indications were these: Following Hiroshima we possess the capacity to destroy ourselves. The first pictures of Earth taken from space indicate that Earth is a small fragile planet and that life upon it is totally interdependent and interrelated although we live as though that is not the case. Finally, the internet has introduced a potential to surround the planet with a layer of cogent thought – we have the capacity to co-create our future.

We are coming to understand that the way that we live is not sustainable indefinitely. We can either live with the discomfort/excitement/fear posed by stepping away from the norm into an unknown or we can risk extinction. When we cultivate a capacity to tolerate the unknown with all of the uncertainty and the discomfort that brings, we begin to create a capacity to coexist and to co-create.

If we choose to opt for the new and as yet not fully understood way of living on Earth, we must accomplish a few things. We must introduce reverence for the unknown. It is curiosity about what will work that will guide us toward healthy collaboration and towards life. We must replace destruction with decimation. By this I mean we must help dismantle those pieces of life on Earth which are not supporting humanity and we must do it in a way that is inclusive, and which does minimal harm.

We must also do all that we can to learn how to live on this planet in the energy of healthy collaboration. We must learn how to add our unique gifts to enhance those of others. And we must learn how to receive the gifts that are borne from this. We need to up level our relationship both to giving and to receiving. We need to ground ourselves in the New Earth – what can emerge. We must retrain our focus away from where we have been and do all we can to find ways to come together and share in a great unfolding.

The Reiki Lab is our attempt to support healers as they uplevel their participation in this transition. We have, for the most part, lived and worked as though we are individual practitioners. Society has guided us into living in our individual lanes. We are taught to pay attention to where we want to be in the future, not where we are now and what we have learned and created along the way. This is crowd control, and it has kept us suborned and, in many cases, ashamed. We must learn to support each other so that we are best able to support others.

Our hope for The Reiki Lab is that it builds a container for healers to come together, to share their hearts, their wisdom, and their hopes for a New Earth. Curiosity about what we as a collaborative society can create. Each of us has a unique contribution to make. The sum of our parts will create a more dynamic whole. Every person intending to do so will support an evolutionary leap because we have the capacity to do so. But, it will flow much more easily if we journey together.

The Hopi Elders delivered this extraordinary piece in 2000. I turn towards it over and over and it always provides me with some of what I am hoping our experiment together will nurture in each of us.

You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered…

Where are you living?

What are you doing?

What are your relationships?

Are you in right relation?

Where is your water?

Know your garden.

It is time to speak your truth.

Create your community.

Be good to each other.

And do not look outside yourself for your leader.

Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.

And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word ’struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Michael Colberg

Lives in Hudson New York, US. He has spent many years learning about how to support individuals, couples, families, and systems. He was trained as an attorney, as a psychotherapist and has had an interest in and studied energy and spiritual matters for most of his adult life. Simply put he has been labelled too psychologically oriented by attorneys, too spiritually oriented by psychotherapists and probably too legally oriented by spiritualists!

“More and more I am pleased to see that much of what I have persisted in bringing together actually helps clients in ways that create something new. Now is the time for something new.”
