How negative energy can affect you
How Negative Energy Can Affect You

We could define a negative energy as a thought, a feeling or ‘something else‘, that makes us feel stuck or unable to break free. This is often associated with conscious or unconscious fear.

Perhaps we are generating these thoughts and feelings, as our fears have been triggered. Other times these belong to other people or places.

If we are feeling certain emotions or thoughts, they are highly likely within our energy field or even in our physical body.

So, what kind of negative energies can get stuck to our aura or body?

What impact can they have on us? How do we know what is affecting us?

What can we do about it?

In this post we explore various types of negative energies that can affect us.

1. Negative Thought Patterns Or Behaviour

Thoughts are mental cognitions — our ideas, opinions, and beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. They include the perspectives we bring to any situation or experience that colour our point of view (for better, worse, or neutral).

There are many different types of negative thoughts, and they do not necessarily have to be about ourselves. Some examples include self-criticism, irrational fears and unwanted thoughts about our past.

An example of a long-lived thought is an attitude, which develops as thoughts are repeated over and over and reinforced.

Thoughts are shaped by life experiences, genetics, and education, and if we are aware of them, they can be changed by changing our mindset.

Affirmations and self-talk are some of the tools that we can use to change our thoughts.

Emotions can be seen as the flow and experience of feelings, for example, joy, sadness, anger, or fear. They can be triggered by something external (from seeing a friend suffer, listening to a song or watching a movie) or something internal (an upsetting memory).

Emotions can be “contagious.” We have a tendency to mimic each other’s outward states (for example, by smiling when someone smiles at us), and our outward states can affect our internal ones (smiling can actually make us feel happy). Emotions can also be influenced by cultural traditions and beliefs, physical conditions and genetics.

Thoughts and emotions have a profound effect on one another. Thoughts can trigger emotions, and how we attend to and appraise our lives has an effect on how we feel.

Like thoughts, we tend to believe that emotions are just “part of us” and can’t be changed. That is not true, because by changing our thoughts we consequently change the way we feel. They can be changed by altering an external situation, shifting our attention and re-appraising a situation.

Mindfulness, autogenic training, meditation, positive thinking, can be very useful as they can affect our perceptions of the world and make us feel calmer, more resilient, and happier.

We can also be influenced by thoughts and energies that do not belong to us. Thoughts and emotions are energies, and these can be transferred from people to places, and vice versa, from places to people. Energies can also be transferred from person to person.

Our vibration determines what we attract in our life. If we are troubled, worried, fearful, angry, we are going to attract a lot of bad energy. We need to understand the laws that govern our beings, the laws that govern our Universe, and how to get into harmony with these laws.

The Letting Go technique below can help you in letting go of unwanted and damaging feelings and emotions.

2. Past Life Blocks

Understanding past lives, you know there is no death. The physical body dies, but your soul is immortal. You merely move to the spiritual realms for a while, resting and learning. Then you return here to continue your lessons. You have lived many lives, in many different bodies.

Brian Weiss

Some people have spontaneous flashbacks during the waking state. This may be triggered by an event, such as visiting a place where you have lived in a past life. When people visit a city for the first time and know their way around without a map or visit a foreign country and find that they can speak the language fluently even though they never studied, it is often indicative of a past life in that place.

Past life memories may also appear in dreams, during meditation, or even when you are getting a massage.  This is because your brain is in an Alpha state – also called a hypnotic or relaxed state — allowing you to reach into your subconscious.

Past Life Regression is a gentle form of hypnotherapy which takes an individual back through time to their previous lives or incarnations by accessing memories and experiences that are normally hidden in their subconscious mind. These memories and experiences are energy blocks that can have a negative impact in the life of a person, through physical illness and negative emotional patterns.

The focus of past life work is to heal these energy blocks so that the current life can be improved.

It is very common for a spirit that has been with you in a previous lifetime to be with you also in your current life as an earthbound spirit or spirit attachment. There may be unresolved business connecting you with this spirit, such a contract, a promise or an oath.

That spirit may have died full of anger and vendetta, saying ‘I will follow you wherever you go‘. This promised translated in this spirit being trapped in the astral dimension until the promise has been fulfilled.

3. Psychic Attacks

A psychic attack involves an external energy that affects our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. These external energies can therefore come from environmental energies and from people.

Psychic attacks can also come from non-living people such as earthbound spirits, elementals, extra-terrestrial beings, and dark force energies.

It is important to recognise that a psychic attack can be successful only if we allow it to affect us.

We do have the power to repel an attack, but we should never respond to an attack by attacking the source of the attacker because Everything we do comes back to us, whether it is good or bad. We are a reflection of what we put out into the world.

4. Cords

Cords are energetic connections that connect a person with an object, another person (or people), an animal, a location, a thought form. These energetic connections are created naturally in our lives, we connect to other people and to everything that is around us; the difference is in the nature of these connections, which can be positive or negative.

An example of a positive cord is one created between mother and child in the first few years after the baby is born; or also the loving cords between people in a romantic relationship.

Cords can be attached to the aura, chakras, organs, brain, ears, throat and many other parts of the human energy system. They can be multidimensional, so cords can be actually originate in other dimensions, for example past and future lives, or parallel dimensions. Cords are energy, so it is very simple to use the intention to create a though form or cord. When we talk about ‘cutting energy cords’, our interest is of course only to cut negative cords that may be affecting the person.

5. Entities or Spirits

The aura is the energetic equivalent of our immune system; a weak aura and energy field create vulnerabilities to spirit attachment that varies according to predisposition, health and circumstances.

According to the Law Of Vibrationthe aura is an electromagnetic field that vibrates at different frequencies. Numerous practitioners think that people whose auras vibrate at high frequency cannot be influenced by spirits, as these seem to vibrate at lower frequency.

Spirits are often attached through energetic cords, therefore the cord needs to be cut and healed in order to release the spirit.

The presence of earthbound spirits can affect people in a number of ways; we may experience lack of energy, mood swings and character changes, memory disturbance and/or poor concentration, we may hear disturbing voices or experience unwanted addictions.

6. Spells and Curses

These are also created with a strong intention to hurt another human being. In the case of Black Magic, the work is often carried out by a professional (Black Magic Practitioner/Witch).

Curses can have a negative influence on a person even if he/she does not believe they exist. They can be intentional or unintentional. Those that are intentional are often practiced in a cult background. Some of the effects of a curse are manipulation, control, some level of discomfort all the way to pain. There are many ways that a curse can be used to manipulate.

There is usually a physical connection; in black magic for example, the black magic master would have asked for something that belonged to the target person (hair, clothing, nail clippings).

The purpose of this is that the master does not want to constantly send energy, so they put something into the person to keep the curse going. It could be something physical. They may impress the energy of the curse into ash and the person may drink it. In black magic there is always a physical connection.

The energetic connection can often be provided by elementals. The back magic master would attract an elemental and bind negative energy on them, such as feelings of fear and terror.

7. Negative Energy in Environments (Homes, offices)

Some environments are energetically more challenging than others because they have ‘absorbed’ energy over time. Churches, cemeteries, hospitals, prisons, battlefields are places where earthbound spirits and negative energies are abundant.

Geopathic stress and electromagnetic energies can also have an extremely negative impact on our energy field. We can easily detect these energies by using a pendulum or divine rods. Once we know what energies with are dealing with, we can decide how to release them.

The negative impact of geopathic stress energies can be counteracted by placing crystals and crystal pyramids in the right places, for example in our own room.

Earthbound spirits must be released with compassion, usually using an approach called spirit release.

How Do We Protect Ourselves From Negative Energies?

There are various tools that we can use to stay centered and protect ourselves from negative energies.

Grounding: Grounding is a very simple and natural way to connect ourselves back to Earth. There are a number of many simple ways to ground ourselves, such as concentrating on our breathing, being in nature and walking in a mindful way.

Psychic Protection: If you are fully grounded is then advisable to start using some form of psychic protection. One example of such a technique can be imagining that a bubble of light or a pyramid is protection you.

Change Your Vibration: If you are aware of your thoughts and emotions, you are also aware of how these are affecting your vibration. There is no psychic attack or entity that can affect you if you hold a high vibration throughout your day.

Learn Reiki: Reiki is a Japanese technique that helps to release stress, anxiety, and also promotes healing. It was invented by Mikao Usui in 1922. Reiki can help us balancing the physical, the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual aspects of our being.

Reach Out For Help When In Need: There are times when we are facing complex problems and challenges, and perhaps they are too overwhelming for us or we do not have skills and abilities that are needed. In these cases, is important that we reach out for professional help.

Practice Reiki Self-Healing: Takata Sensei always taught her students to start their healing practice with themselves, providing Reiki self-treatments daily. Before you can help others to heal, you must first heal yourself. Even if you only have five minutes per day, use that time to place your hands on yourself and allow the Reiki energy to flow. To use Reiki, practitioners must be attuned to the energy so it flows freely from them to others.

– Learn about your chakra system:

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or vortex . They are an integral part of the body’s energy system and they are transformers of subtle energy. They take the Ki that is around us and transform it into the various frequencies our subtle energy system needs to keep us healthy.

It is generally agreed that there are seven major chakras in the human body and there are also more than twenty minor chakras .

– Cleanse your energy with the shower of light meditation: this meditation can help you releasing and ‘washing off’ all those negative energies and unwanted energies that no longer serve you.

– Make sure that you are not going through a spiritual awakening: spiritual awakening is a process of becoming aware of the true nature of the self and reality. It is a a time or experience an individual has when they transition from being aware of only the physical reality and awaken to something more.

Sometimes symptoms resulting from a spiritual awakening can be very similar to other metaphysical experiences. The post below will help you understanding a bit more about this topic.
